Wonderings about 2012

What do all these questions about the possible changes in 2012 mean? There are many rumors and fears of the destruction of earth and humanity. What will happen? Are we destroying ourselves or are we moving forward in evolution? We might ponder the Hindu Goddess Kali. She is considered the goddess of destruction and change, also sometimes called Bhavatarini, literally meaning the "redeemer of the universe."

All the ancient texts confirm that there have always been wars and destruction on earth. But have we humans evolved? Is life just chaos and random happenings or is there some sort of order?

Chaos theory says that an underlying order is apparent in random data; meaning that not only does order come from the chaos itself, but that if we understood everything we would see the obvious order.

The Bible, and Jewish mysticism from the 1300s, teaches us that out of chaos comes creation. The Hebrew word Tohu means chaos, void or without form. We can fall into this chaos when we break through old beliefs and challenge our old ways of thinking and feeling. In some circles that could be a healing crises.

In this chaos, we experience destruction. Out of this destruction, we are thrust into letting go of that which is destroyed. What do us as individuals have to let go of to move to our next step in our evolution? Looking at ourselves is always the best way to find clarity when large changes or shifts occur.

Are our inner changes the result of many years of seeking, questioning and learning, or planetary changes in consciousness, or some combination of both? For all of us, listening to our deeper calling to become better humans lightens our load and the load of all those around us. If each one of us takes on the tasks of listening to the part of us that connects to a greater consciousness, we change this world for the better. By opening ourselves up to the greater flow we can soften the fixed personal constructs that must shift in order for us to have inner harmony and peace. If we accept the human charge to see more than our training and upbringing can show us, we can become part of the possible transformation of 2012. Even if 2012 is nothing but a myth, let us use it as a catalyst toward the changes that are possible.
